Frequently Asked Questions

Does artCompete take Sales Commissions on the Artist’s Art Work?

NO.  Our primary focus is to promote the Artist and their Art Work(s) through this Web Site.

The Sale of Art Work(s) is the responsibility of the Artist who created the work and is offering said art work for Sale.

Do You Ship the Artist’s Art Work to the Buyer?

NO.  The Artist is responsible for shipping said Art Work(s) and all related expenses.

Why Should I have a PayPal Account?

A quick and timely exchange of international currencies and low transaction fees.  You do not have to have a PayPal Account to pay the Submission/Entry Fee.  You can use your credit card without creating a PayPal account.  However, we use PayPal to pay Awards to those Artists who have won a cash Award in a given Competition.

NOTE:  If you do not have or do not wish to use PayPal then an Award will be sent by Regular Mail.  In that case payment of an Award may take several weeks.

Do You take eChecks and Bank Drafts as Currency?

Most financial transactions are currently and in part based on services offered by PayPal, Inc. Otherwise, artCompete will honor a US Postal Money Order sent by Regular Mail for payment of the Submission/Entry Fee.

When sending PMO’s by Regular Mail keep in mind the Closing/Deadline Date of a Competition.

Will You Waive the Entry Fee?

NO.  A Prepaid Payment of the Entry Fee is one of the requirements for Entry into a artCompete Competition.

Can You Deduct My Entry Fee from My Cash Award?

NO.  Again, a Prepaid Entry Fee is a requirement and condition for all who Enter a Competition.

Can I get an Extension on the Closing Date?

NO.  In fairness to all entrants, no exceptions will be made. Your Entry and/or Fee must be received within seven days after the Closing/Deadline Date to qualify for a Competition.

What is the Closing/Deadline Date?

The last day you can Enter a Competition.  The Closing Date of the Competition and the Deadline Date of the same Competition are two phrases for the same activity.

My Money Order for the Entry Fee was Lost in the Regular Mail?

We are not responsible for late or undelivered mail and the consequences wherefrom.  If your Submission is selected for an Award and your Regular Mail Entry Fee is not received by the Cutoff Date, your Entry will be removed from Competition/Exhibition and the Award forfeited.

What is the Cutoff Date?

If your Entry is Postmarked on the Closing/Deadline Date of a Competition it must be received no later than the Cutoff Date, which is seven days after the Closing/Deadline Date of a given Competition.

If My Entry is Late Can I get a Refund?

If your Entry is Postmarked after the Closing/Deadline Date for a Competition your Entry is too late to qualify.  In which case, artCompete will notify you by email and give you the choice to carryover your Entry to the next Competition, or not.

If we are unable to contact you after the Closing/Deadline Date, your submitted materials will not be returned, but your Entry Fee will be refunded in due course.

I have other PDF Software, why do I need to install Adobe Reader?

You don’t need to install Adobe Reader if your Brand of PDF software can open, read, and allow you to fill-in the artCompete PDF Entry Form.  The artCompete PDF Entry Form is in a Standard PDF format and can be read by most of the currently marketed PDF Readers.

Why can’t I Send PDF Files with my Adobe Reader?
